The photography bug bit me sometime in the mid-1970's, and it has not let me go ever since. It all started with the classic Zorky4 I borrowed from my parents. As a teenager back in Holland (my home country), I bought my first film camera, a Minolta XG2, with the money I earned picking tomato's during summer break. I soon upgraded to the XD7, then to the Maxxum 7000 (which was stolen), and later to the Maxxum 7000i. I mostly used slide film but did some B&W as well, which I processed in my own dark room.
My interests re. photography are broad, but I my current activities mainly involve landscapes, events, macro and model photography. I don't really know what my niche is; I just venture from one corner of the realm to the other, and I'm having fun doing it!
What I did discover though, is that photography is best enjoyed with other people. I am a member of several organizations, some formal and some not:
* Mt Baker Camera Club, Mount Vernon, WA (
http://www.mtbakercameraclub.com), of which I am the web master;
* Microsoft's photography DL;
* North Sound Photography Meetup Group, Arlington, WA;
* Glamour Modeling and Photography Meetup Group, Seattle, WA.
My photography has been fully digital since 2003, and I am currently using the following equipment:
Nikon D300 with MB-D10 battery pack (and a D70 backup body)
Nikon 18-200VR/3.5-5.6
Nikon 70-200VR/2.8
Nikon 18-70/3.5-4.5
Nikon TC-17E II 1.7x Teleconverter
Nikon SB800
Sigma 105/2.8 macro
Gitzo GT2541L tripod
Really Right Stuff BH-40LR ball head
Really Right Stuff L-bracket
I'm always looking for photo opportunities in the Northwestern part of Washington State, so if you are interested in collaborating, please contact me
here.
Thanks,
Peter
